Teenage Romance

Gang of three
boys,
the low wall
their perch

Gaggle of five
girls,
their table and chairs
now empty

Boys bright eyes
smiling,
the girls
their interest

Girls' hair swishing
flirting,
the boys
their captives

Mouths rapidly move
in discussion,
the boys over the girls
the girls over the boys

Boys on the wall
waiting,
girls all a-flutter
the boys they approach

Girls first move
vocalizing,
the boys
they do tease

Still sitting upon
the wall,
boys become embarrassed,
blushing at the voices

Girls flit away
as birds,
tantalizing
on display

Boys watch
in fever,
remaining on
their perch

Back and forth
the game,
boys watch the girls
girls toy with the boys

Neither group
sure,
both wanting discovery
yet socially afraid

I'm still learning to be an artist... does one ever stop? ;)

Having no prior extensive formal training (just the usual lower school art classes and occasional scribbles), in late 2011 Jon picked up a Wacom, and Painter, and began to learn digital art.

Quickly recognizing the need for some guidance, Jon has since taken classes with Skip Allen ([link]), Karen Bonaker ([link]), and Tim Shelbourne ([link]).

An active administrator assisting Tim Shelbourne with his site, The Artists Quarter ([link]), Jon continues his artistic growth under Tim's tutelage and the feedback others willingly provide.

I hope you enjoy the artwork!

Hello! Don't forget to check out my scrapbook. I do post some things there from time to time that I don't think belong in my main gallery. ;)

Hey Jon, as a means of getting your art out there more, have you tried considering submitting it to relevant groups/ clubs on DA?

Here's some basic ideas for ones you could join; just make sure to read their gallery rules and upload works into the right folders or it'll get rejected.

Thanks!

I'll take a gander at these in a bit.

I'm a little hesitant to post much to any groups as, well, I still view most of my stuff as rather "juvenile" in nature... ;)

Boy, do I really wanna Intuos4 tablet!!!

No problem.

Actually if you read the rules some groups accept works of all skill levels lol, people have to start somewhere.

Personally I use a bamboo tablet, albiet the larger version. Intuos tablets probably have smoother lines and such but I think at the end of the day it comes down to the person using it and not the technology. :P

I believe an artist is only as good as his tools. Having worked with tools of many varieties, I can unequivocally state that better tools produce better work. Now that doesn't mean one can't get by with "lesser quality," as, of course, you readily prove. But, more specifically, I'd be willing to bet that if you had an Intuos4 instead of the Bamboo, you'd be even more awesome than you are already... :)

Thank you for the links. For now I've stuck my nose in the dragon club. :)
